Elsie Brownfield, 89 of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.  Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.  Inurnment will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery in rural Covington.  Visitation will be an hour prior to services Saturday at Brosh Chapel.

Elsie was born December 29, 1918 in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, the daughter of Loui and Clara (Bosnar) Hiemstra.  She married Leroy Brownfield.  Elsie enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.  She loved her dogs and playing cards.

Elsie is survived by her daughter Harriett Wiggins; granddaughters Bridgette Brownfield and Tricia Inman; grandsons Brian Brownfield, Todd Beyer, and Toby Beyer; seven greatgrandchildren: Marisa, Eric, Ryan, Tristan, Todd II, Tiana, and Tiara; sister Wilma Vernooy; daughter-in-law Rose Regan; and a special friend, Harry Birch.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy on August 16, 2007, and her sons Mitchell Brownfield and Virgil Brownfield.
