Elmer Feuss, 79 of Lisbon, died Thursday, September 10, 2009 surrounded by family at the Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.  Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 at Brosh Chapel in Solon.  Private family inurnment will follow in Lisbon Cemetery.  Full Military Rites will be conducted by the Lisbon American Legion.

Elmer was born September 29, 1929 in Toronto, Iowa, the son of William A. and Frieda D. (Kriepke) Feuss.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954 serving during the Korean Conflict.  Elmer married the love of his life, Marie Short on August 4, 1956 in Lisbon.  Elmer and Marie were married 41 years.  He was a farmer for most of his life and retired from Mobile Home Service Repair in 1986.  Elmer was a member of the Lisbon American Legion for over 20 years and the VFW Post 788 for over 26 years.

Elmer is survived by his daughters, Lynette (Ric) Graves of Viola and Mary Ann (Robert) Jilovec of Mechanicsville; six grandchildren, Angie, John, Julie, Dustin, Cody and Kim; eleven great grandchildren; brothers, Bill (Evelyn) Feuss of Lisbon and Edward (Claudia) Feuss of Mt. Vernon; and sisters, Arnita Feuss and Arlene (William) Galloway of Cedar Rapids.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; four brothers including one in infancy; and a sister.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center staff and the Hospice of Iowa staff for all of their loving care and support.
