Elizabeth was born in Lisbon, Iowa July 22, 1924, the second child and only daughter of Mary Libby (Crofta) Mohn and Conrad Phillip Mohn. Nicknamed "Betty," she and older brother William "Bill" grew up on the family farm about 5 miles outside of Lisbon/Mt Vernon. She attended country school where she was promoted to the next higher grade so the teacher would have less work. Betty graduated from Lisbon High School in 1941. She attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls for one year before quitting to work at Collins Radio. She worked at Collins during and after WWII until she married Charley Wayne Wolf in February of 1949. Betty helped Wayne start Wayne Manufacturing outside Cedar Rapids. They had a daughter, Beverly. Betty and Beverly moved into her final residence in 1957. She and Wayne divorced in 1958. In 1959, Betty took a low paying factory job at what would eventually become Midwest Nameplate, that later situated outside Mt. Vernon, IA. She advanced from factory to art department to briefly owning Midwest before it was taken over by a loan company and sold to various wealthy men for whom Betty continue on as office manager. She retired in 1985.
In 1971 her mother Mary, moved in with her and they enjoyed a happy time together. Betty cared for or oversaw the care of Mary Libby until her death in 1996. Betty often put the welfare of others before her own. Although she could have joined her daughter in California, she preferred life in Iowa. She lived in the same house for 65 years. She enjoyed travel within the states and Canada. She was a good driver and took pride in her cars that included a 1947 Studebaker, and two Ford Convertibles. For a while she attended senior dances until deciding she preferred the local casinos for recreation. Video Poker was her game and until the pandemic she would meet her daughter Beverly in Vegas several times a year. She was still driving to Tama or Riverside until mid-January 2022. She was a member of St Patrick's parish for 63 years.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her daughter Beverly Baroff & son-in-law Elliot Tyson, granddaughter Brianna Sauvage & husband Alan Sauvage, niece Christine (Mohn) Davis & Jay Davis, nephew Marc Mohn & Rebecca Mohn and the siblings combined 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
