Mrs. Elizabeth E. Levy, 90 of Marion, died peacefully Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Willow Gardens Care Center.  Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2009 at Word of Faith Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, Pastor Wendell Beets, with Pastor Damian Epps of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakhill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW.
Elizabeth was born August 27, 1919 in Waverly, Arkansas, the daughter of Rev. Henry and Lillie B. (Strickland) Johnson.  She married Robert L. Levy Sr. in April 18, 1935, to this union thirteen children were born.  Elizabeth was employed at Mercy Hospital as a dietician until her retirement after 18 years.  She was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church from 1964 until the day she passed.  She was on the Mother's Board and was in charge of the kitchen.  Elizabeth was famous citywide for her 5 Flavored Pound Cake.  She enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, gardening, and most of all fishing.  She also enjoyed telling all that would listen about her Lord and Savior.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Robert Levy and James Levy of Cedar Rapids; John (Carol) Levy of St. Paul, MN; daughters, Lillie B. Washington, Doris Poole, Ethel Levy all of Cedar Rapids, Margaree Levy of St. Paul, MN, Norain Jamison of Louise, MS, Blanchie (Roy) Broomfield of Belzoni, MS, fifty grandchildren; 150 greatgrandchildren; a host of greatgreatgrandchildren; a brother, Eddie Johnson of Racine, WI; sisters, Essie B. Coleman and Lillie M. Smothers both of Marion, AR; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Levy Sr., parents Rev. Henry and Lillie B. Johnson; daughter, Edna Mae Stamps; sons Oscar Levy, J.B. Levy, and A.B. Levy
