Elizabeth J. Bedell, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at St. Luke's Living Center East. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 2nd, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery in Whittier. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Elizabeth was born September 22, 1922 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Edward and Lumila (Popelka) Blazek. She married Ben Bedell on December 8, 1942 at the First Presbyterian Church near Ely. Elizabeth enjoyed baking, sewing, and traveling. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Betty Bedell, Arlene (Richard) Lewis all of Cedar Rapids, Catherine Giannetto of Newton, Donna (James) Norris of Greenwood, Indiana, and Mary (Clark) Malmer of Eldridge; 8 grandchildren Bill (Jen) Lewis, Bob (Deanna) Lewis, Debbie (Warren) Bolsinger, Andy Norris, Betsy (Jeff) Day, Brent Giannetto, Jill Malmer, and Matt Malmer; 3 great-grandchildren Nicole, Brandon, and Rylee, 1 great-great-grandchild Liam. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ben, and her sister Martha Buresh. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to either the Whittier Cemetery Fund or to Exceptional Opportunities, where her grandson Brent Giannetto has resided for many years.
