Eldon F. Hosek, 89 of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center from a brief illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with burial to follow in Anderson Cemetery near Swisher. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Eldon was born July 1, 1926 in Fairfax, the son of Frank C. and Caroline M. (Janko) Hosek. In 1944, he graduated from Walford High School. He was united in marriage to Marion May Detert on February 9, 1948. Eldon farmed in the Fairfax and Swisher area for many years. Along with farming he worked at Waconia Sorghum Mill and became a well-distinguished dealer and county manager for Archer Oil for 53 years. He also transported passengers for Cedar Rapids Airport Shuttle and delivered newspapers for the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Eldon is survived by his son Verne (Joyce) Hosek of Fairfax; grandchildren, Bryan King, Chris King, Amy (Dave) Becicka, Troy (Tristen) Hosek, and Todd (Rikki) Hosek; and great-grandchildren; Elli and Ty Becicka, Taryn, Teagan, Timberli, Tate Hosek, and Zoey Hosek. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marion, daughter, Judi King and son-in-law, Bill King. Most recently, Eldon spent his days visiting with friends, playing pool and bingo while living at Cedar Crest Apartments. He looked forward to Tuesday morning Bible study through First Assembly of God Church. Most importantly, coming out to the farm and spending time with his family made him the happiest. Eldon "Jeda" will be greatly missed. A memorial fund has been established. Eldon's family would like thank the doctors and nurses at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids for the quality care he received.
