Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, with the Rosary recited at 3:30 pm. Arrangements will be handled by Brosh Chapel in Solon. Eileen was born on August 12, 1922 on a farm in rural Solon to Charles and Marie (Wall) Bartlett. She graduated from Solon High School in 1939 and attended Cedar Falls Teachers College. She taught country school for several years and then worked in the Solon schools as a teacher's aide. She married John "Jack" Beranek on June 27, 1945 and they raised five children together on the family farm east of Solon where she tended a huge flower and vegetable garden. After the children were grown, she worked as a teller at the Solon State Bank for 20 years before retiring in 1989. She enjoyed her work at the bank and the many wonderful people she came to know over the years. After her retirement, she volunteered at the VA Hospital and continued her involvement with the Solon Legion Women's Auxillary. She is survived by her husband Jack, her children Judy (Scott) Miltner of Lancaster, California; Jerry (Rita) Beranek of Rock Falls, Illinois; Marty Beranek of Aurora, Colorado; Sandy (Mark) Serbousek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Randy Beranek of Portland, Oregon; her grandchildren Jaime (Brian) Cooperider of Henderson, Nevada, Andy Beranek of Morrison, Illinois, Megan and Samantha Beranek of Aurora, Colorado; and great-grandchildren Mackenzie Phillips of Morrison, Illinois and Bailey Cooperider of Henderson, Nevada. She is also survived by two brothers, James (Audrey) Bartlett of Solon, and Lawrence (Ann) Bartlett of Rochester, New York and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marie Bartlett and her father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Sylvia Beranek. The family would like to extend their thanks to the wonderful staff at the Solon Nursing Care Center for their loving care of Eileen during the last four years.
