Edward Franklin Ulch, 86, died Monday, January 1, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness.  Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Solon.  Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Solon.  Visitation will also be one hour prior to services on Friday.

Eddie was born December 29, 1920 in rural Solon the son of Edward and Emma (Ehrenberger) Ulch.  He attended the Stone Academy and graduated from Solon High School.  Eddie married Rose Rozinek on October 17, 1947 at The Little Brown Church in The Vale in Nashua.

He is survived by his wife Rose; three sons, Gary (Donna) of Mt. Vernon, Joe (Cindy) of Winnemucca, Nevada, and Tim of Solon;  four grandchildren, Kerri (Patrick) Wolfe, Ty (Heather) Ulch all of Mt. Vernon, Will Ulch of Eugene, Oregon, and Jancey Ulch of Winnemucca, Nevada; his great-grandchildren, Sydney and Brody Ulch and his sister-in-law Sylvia Ulch.  Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother George.

Eddie worked his early years at Waconia Sorghum.  He and Rose farmed Sunkist Farm Dairy until his retirement.  He especially enjoyed his band  "The Jolly Bohemians" and loved to tour with them, including a tour of Europe.

Eddie was a life long member of the Solon Community and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
