Edithe "Edie" Opperman, 69, of Cedar Rapids passed away peacefully December 23, 2022 at The Dennis and Donna Older Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following a short illness. Per her wishes, there will be no services at this time. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is caring for Edie and her family.

Edithe Elyzath was born February 26, 1953 in Washington, IA to Theodore James and Liliane Alice (Saintobin) Springman. She then moved to Cedar Rapids, IA, and later graduated from Kennedy High School in 1971. Edie is known for her caring heart and hardworking mentality. She received her real estate and broker's license in 1989 and recently retired from Iowa Realty May of 2022. In addition to real estate, she also was in outside sales at ABC Supply most recently before she retired in January 2020. Edie was too social to be done working, so she started part-time at CR Grooming as a receptionist. She had wonderful clients who later turned into great friends to Edie. Everyone will miss her Christmas cards and array of Christmas cookies that she made for everyone each year.

Edithe is survived by her estranged son, Paul Opperman, her daughter, Jill (Opperman) Pritchard, and her grand-daughter Jazmine Opperman. She is also survived by her three dogs: Ozzie, Bodie, and Jazzy and one cat, Taz. In addition, she is survived by a big-loving family including: (2) sisters- Shirley & Micki, (3) brothers- Bob, Kevin, & Barry, and many nieces, nephews, that will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents, (Theodore and Liliane), her sister, (Candy) & her brother, (Kim).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. We hope to live a day where there is a cure for Breast Cancer.
