Edith
Andrews
April 25, 1916 – July 4, 2020
Edith Andrews, 104, of Coralville, formerly of Mason City, died Saturday, July 4, 2020, at Windmill Manor in Coralville. Private family services will be held on September 5, 2020 on the family farm in Buffalo Center, Iowa.
Edith was born April 25, 1916, in rural Buffalo Center, the daughter of Aaron and Iva (Orr)Berryhill. She entertained her descendants with stories of her childhood in a large, busy family on the farm. She graduated from Buffalo Center High School. Edith was united in marriage to Grant Edwards, and after divorce, to George Andrews.
Edith was a businesswoman, who enjoyed caring for elderly in her home for many years. She also rented rooms to students. She enjoyed writing letters to the editor, which led to her receiving the Golden Pen Award from the Mason City Globe Gazette. She also wrote local news for the Des Moines Register. For many years she wrote and presented devotions for her church circle, First United Methodist Church in Mason City. And she was always ready for a game of bridge, 500, or Scrabble. Friends and family will remember her especially for her colorful clothing and enduring optimism. She looked for the good in all people and the silver lining in every cloud and was an inspiration to many.
Edith is survived by her son Dr. Victor (Nola) Edwards of Iowa City, and daughter, Elaine (Ed) Morrow of Des Moines, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, and a brother Dr. Leroy Berryhill of Fort Dodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two great-grandchildren, five brothers, four sisters and both husbands.
Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church, Coralville, Iowa.
