Edgar "Homer" Bascom, 83 of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, December 30 at St. Lukes Hospital.  Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.  Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Hiawatha.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2006 and for an hour prior to services Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.

Homer was born August 1, 1923 in Meeker, Oklahoma the son of Charles and Alice Jett Bascom.  He married Luella P. Evans, November 13, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri.  She died November 10, 1994.  He re-married Helen Murphy on June 30, 1995 in Shellsburg.

Homer is survived by his children Mary (Bill) Zahn, Jeannie Bascom, Debbie Bascom, and Patricia Bascom all of Cedar Rapids, Bonnie Joyner of Oxford; his wife Helen of Cedar Rapids;  three stepdaughters and two stepsons; many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren and two greatgreatgrandchildren; a sister LucyBell LeClair of Oklahoma; a brother Glenn Bascom of Vinton.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a son Jerry Bascom, a sister Dorothy Boyles, a brother Edward "Toby" Bascom, a grandchild and a greatgrandchild.
