E. Mae Smith-Pfost, 93 of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday evening, March 29, 2007 at Northbrook Manor Care Center.  Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2007 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, with burial following at Czech National Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and for an hour prior to services Monday at the chapel in Cedar Rapids.

Mae was born April 1, 1914 in Swisher, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Lopatha Benish.  She married Harold J. Smith on March 9, 1936 in Rock Island, Illinois.  Harold passed away on November 11, 1969. She was united in marriage to William Pfost on June 30, 1973 in Las Vegas.

Mae is survived by her daughters Shirley (James) Iverson of Cedar Rapids and LoRee (Keith) Newman-Hora of Washington; her son Harold (Helen) Smith of DesMoines; her husband William of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughters Susie (Mike) Leeland and Diane (Mike) Hall of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren: Jay(Darla) Iverson, Kami(Jayme) Skay, Shantel Klinger-Champion, Dawn (Jim)Roach, Casey(Sarah) Smith and Chris(Crystal) Smith; two stepgrandchildren; and greatgrandchildren: Gretta,Gabe and Connor Smith; Shelby, Hunter, and Tanner Iverson; Abby Roach; Taylor, Morgan and Cassidy Long.

Mae was preceded in death by her husband Harold J. Smith; brother Alvin Benish; and sisters Lillian Schrader, Irene Rajtora, and Adeline Hanson.
