Drake Dillon Whitters, 19, died Thursday, June 9, 2011. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at St. Ludmilas Catholic Church with Fr. Tom McDermott presiding, burial to follow in Sulek Cemetery, near Shueyville. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 8 p.m Monday, June 13, 2011 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Drake was born June 8, 1992 in Cedar Rapids, the son of William "B" and Lisa (Philipp) Whitters. Drake was active in high school football and wrestling at Prairie. He loved hanging out with his friends and family. His greatest pastime was hunting. Drake was attending college at Kirkwood Community College and working with his family at BWC Construction. Drake is survived by his parents, his siblings Hailey, Laiken, River, Tyger and Heavenlei; paternal grandparents Paul and Carol Whitters of Cedar Rapids, maternal grandparents Fred and Jennifer Philipp, Ted and Roxanne Youngton all of Cedar Rapids; aunts and uncles Gary Philipp, Kenny and Kim Philipp, Kim Bartels and Robert, Chris and Debbie Philipp, Shannon and Victoria Philipp, Dan Philipp, Jen and Jon Shebetka, Hunter Philipp, Stone Philipp, Lindsey Holland, Tory Smith, Joe Youngton, Jim and Colleen Whitters, Tom Whitters, Phil and Cindy Hynek, Dan and Linda Whitters, Eric and Becky Fisher, John and Peggy Whitters, and Joe and Jerri Whitters; 48 immediate cousins, and his maternal grandfather Ralph Thoren. He was preceded in death by his aunts Kerry Philipp and Amy Whitters. A memorial fund has been established in Drake's name.
