Douglas "Doug" C. Hollan, 65, of Alburnett, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW in Cedar Rapids.
Douglas Charles was born on December 13, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Charles Frank and Pearl Delilah (Avis) Hollan. Douglas graduated from Jefferson High School in 1978. Then completed constitution / carpentry classes at Kirkwood Community College. Douglas married Teresa Vifian in 1980. He then went to work as a building and grounds supervisor at multiple school districts.
Known best as "Coach", "Dad", and "Grandpa / Grandpa Douglas". Doug coached ~20 years of high school football, along with various other sports. He was a dedicated family man with loving support, consistent presence, and straight forward guidance. He loved watching his grandchildren grow and will now be able to gracefully watch all his grandchildrens' events from Heaven.
He is survived by his loving wife Teresa; daughters Kayla and Haley; son Matthew (wife Caroline); and grandsons Chase, Beckett, and Aiden.
Doug is preceded in death by Mother Pearl and Mother and Father in Laws Mary and Jerry Vifian.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
