Dorothy Ann (Pickett) Zobel, age 88, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on January 1, 2025. Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW on April 7, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Inurnment will take place at Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Brosh Chapel and the Avacentre, will be assisting the family at this time.
Dorothy was born on August 31, 1937, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd William Pickett and Lanie Ann Webster Greene. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1955. She went to school to become an X-Ray technician and then was employed by Mercy Hospital for awhile. She married Alvin Lee Zobel on November 21, 1958. They resided in Anamosa for awhile, and then moved to Cedar Rapids. Later on, they moved to Sarasota, Florida and made this their retirement home.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Anita (Zobel) Tarter; son-in-law, James Tarter; grandchildren, Curtis Ackerman, Krista Tarter, Phillip Tarter, Caroline Tarter; great grandchildren, Violet Tarter, Alice Johns, and Leo Johns. She is also survived by two sisters, Marie (Pickett) Steensen and Jenny (Pickett) Pierce.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Alvin Zobel; brother, Robert Greene; sister, Alice Greene; and sister, Irma Jean (Pickett) Caspers.
Special thanks to Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, Florida for their wonderful care and compassion which was shown to my mother. Thank you also to the staff of Westminster Point Pleasant for their excellent care. Special thanks to nurses Stace and Keena for always going above and beyond to provide the best care for my mom.
