Dorothy Marie Sirowy, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center, from a brief illness.  Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with Reverend Carol Sundberg, presiding.  Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Brosh Chapel.

Dorothy was born June 26, 1928 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joe and Libbie (Makousky) Staskal.  She married Donald M. Sirowy on September 5, 1946. Dorothy and Don farmed near Fairfax.  She was an active member at CSA Lodge Prokop Velky #137 and Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was involved in many groups, bible study, and visiting shut-ins.  She loved watching the Hawkeyes, listening to music, dancing, sending cards and spending time with her loving family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Don (Kathy) of Ely, Vicky Sawyer of Clarence, and Larry (Darla) of Martinez, California; eight grandchildren Tammy (Mark) Carlson, Angie Sirowy, Dawn (Greg) Sirowy, Denise (Ron) Bily, Buffi (Rodney) Honeck, Alexandra (Joe) Cloyes, Elizabeth Sirowy and Andrew Sirowy; two step-grandchildren Justine (Price) Sawyer and Christine Sawyer (Mike Callahan); eleven great-grandchildren; a sister Erma Meskimen of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law Shar Tomash of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law Bob (Marlene) Sirowy of Fairfax; as well as her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Donald, an infant son, Danny Allan, a brother Vernon J. Staskal, and her sisters Eleanor Dusil and Ruth Mitvalsky.
