Dorothy Ann Fisher, 82 of Swisher, died Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Solon Care Center. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Shueyville United Methodist Church, located at 1195 Steeple Lane NE, Swisher. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Shueyville United Methodist Church. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is handling the arrangements. Dorothy was born November 11, 1932 in Colesburg, the daughter of Ted E. and Augusta (Neuhring) Dittmer. She graduated from Colesburg High School and St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1954. Dorothy was united in marriage to William A. Fisher on November 27, 1959 at Salem United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Dorothy worked as an OB nurse at St. Luke's Hospital, University of Iowa Hospitals Clinics and at Mercy Medical Center until her retirement in 1986. She enjoyed shopping for her grandchildren, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Dorothy is survived by her husband Bill; her children Beth (Lowell) Cooke of Billings, Montana, Aaron (Sue) Fisher of Swisher and Amy Palmquist of Northfield, Minnesota; seven grandchildren Ashley (Mick) Goff, Erin Cooke, Morgan, Austin and Jake Fisher, Ben and Ella Palmquist; two great-grandsons Brock and Brayden Goff; siblings Martin (Kathy) Dittmer of Iowa Falls, Mary Brobst of California, Alice Luetjen of Oregon, Ruth (Lyle) Hageman of Virginia, John (Elaine) Dittmer, Jean (Paul) Larson both of North Carolina, and Jane Vaughan of California; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Virginia Sprague, Wilma Wessel and Mae Gallagher. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to either the Shueyville United Methodist Church and or to Camp Courageous in her name.
