Doris J. Kessler, 72 of Solon, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at the Solon Care Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 23 St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Burial will follow at St. Bridget's Cemetery, Nolan Settlement. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brosh Chapel in Solon, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitiation will also be for an hour prior to Mass at the Church on Thursday.
Doris was born November 4, 1934 in West Branch, the daughter of David and Gladys LaRue Wordsworth. She married Melvin John Kessler on June 16, 1952 at St. Bridget's Church.
Doris is survived by her daughters: Sandra Marie Kessler of Solon, Cynthia Ann Wille (Randy) of New Boston, Illinois, and Linda Jo Lunsford (Steve) of Harlingen, Texas; son, Randall John Kessler (Cynde) of Solon, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; sisters Helen Ehresman of Quincy, Illinois and Naomi (Chuck) Wagner of Stanwood; and brothers Jim (Judy) Wordsworth of Olathe, Kansas, and David "Butch" (Ralphie) Wordsworth of Theodosia, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Melvin on May 12, 2004.
Doris enjoyed having fun in life. A good laugh and a smile were images of her that many people enjoyed. She loved to play Aggravation and cards with her friends and family. She was active with the Legion Auxillary for many years helping with events and funeral dinners. Doris enjoyed being on the farm, tending to her flowers and garden. She was a very special mother, grandmother and friend to many and will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
