Donna M. Middendorf, 82, of Solon died Saturday September 7, 2013 at her home. Cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 11 at the Brosh Chapel, Solon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am. Following interment at the Oakland Cemetery a luncheon will be held at 12:00 noon at the Solon United Methodist Church for family and friends. Donna was born on May 25, 1931 in Toivola, MI, the daughter of Earl and Verla (VanGorder) Russell. Donna married Rowland Somermeyer on April 23, 1952, preceding her in death in 1959. She subsequently married Robert Middendorf on June 17, 1961, preceding her in death in 2009. She worked for 20 years at the Solon State Bank retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Solon United Methodist Church. Donna is survived by her brother James (Joan) Russell of Davenport and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands; Rowland Somermeyer and Robert Middendorf, a son Rowland Somermeyer Jr., three sisters; Helen Lundgeren, Marjorie Anderson, Rhoda "Jane " Carroll and two brothers; Robert Russell and Darrell Russell.
