Donna Brus, 59 of North Liberty, died Sunday, August 14, 2011 at her home following a long battle with lung cancer. Funeral services will start at 6pm, following visitation from 4-6pm Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Brosh Chapel, 100 South Cedar Street, Solon, IA. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Donna was born January 1, 1952 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Art and Rosemary Brus. She graduated from the U of Iowa and spent her entire career working for the University until her retirement in 2008 due to health reasons. Donna was an avid Hawkeye fan and especially enjoyed tailgating with her "Hawkeye" friends. She looked forward to her yearly fishing trips to Canada. She was a twenty-six year member of the North Liberty American Legion Auxiliary. Donna is survived by her sister Debbie (Gary) Powell of Stockton, IA; niece, Christy (Robert) Sheeder of Stockton, IA; nephew, Robert (Julia) Powell of Blue Grass, IA, great nieces/nephews, Robert, Lakin, Ryan Sheeder and Kaitlyn and Austin Powell and long time partner Gary Moel and his extended family. She was preceded in death by parents.
