January 6, 1945 – February 16, 2024
Donald Lee Remour, 79, of Swisher, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2024, from a prolonged illness. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City, where full military rites will be conducted.
Donald was born on January 6, 1945, in Morrison, Illinois, the son of Ralph W. and Velva M. (Birely) Remour. Don served in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam as a mechanic in 1968-69, graduated from Military Flight School in 1981, and retired from the National Guard as a Huey pilot in 1996.
Don was united in marriage to Jean Ann Potratz on December 8, 1966, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City. He worked as a coordinator at General Mills for over 29 years, retiring in 2012. Don enjoyed golfing, hunting, woodworking, riding his Harley, playing video games, and most of all spending time with his family especially the grandkids.
Don is survived by his son Mike (Ariana) Remour; his grandchildren Dante, Mildred and Adrian; his siblings Ralph Remour and Stanley (Janice) Wilkinson, and Brian (Rita) Potratz; his niece and nephew, Luke (Stephanie) Potratz, Julia (Carlos) Garcia; great-nieces and nephews Lennon, Georgia, and Oscar.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean, and a son Jeffery Lee Remour.
Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project in his name.
