Donald Cox, 76, of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Marion and Monticello, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center.  Celebration of life services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2017 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with Reverend Emory Gillespie presiding.  Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Brosh Chapel.  A private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Donald was born December 2, 1940 in Monticello, the son of Herbert and Mildred (Hyde) Cox.  He graduated from Wyoming High School, class of 1958.  Don was united in marriage to Jane Ann Holmes on July 22, 1960 in Olin.  He grew up working with his father at Wyoming Implement.  He owned and operated it for several years.  He continued working in agricultural sales with Oliver/White Farm, J.I. Case Equipment and A.O. Smith Harvestore.   He most recently worked in construction equipment sales with Star Equipment and retired from James W. Bell.  Don enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, camping, boating, crappie fishing with his grandchildren and most of all spending time with his family. He was his grandchildren's number one fan.

Don is survived by his wife, Jane; two children Christine (Terry) Brosh of Cape Coral, Florida and Dan (Teresa) Cox of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren Megan (Ben) Klaus, Ryan Cox and Bryce Cox; one great-grandson Leroy Klaus and one on the way; his siblings Richard (Norma) Cox of Charles City, David (Donna) Cox of Northfield, Illinois, Dean (Karen) Cox of Monticello, Robert Cox of Marshalltown and Joan (Chuck) Grabner of Urbandale; a brother-in-law Jerry (Diane) Holmes of Paris, Missouri; two sisters-in-law Mary Andrews of Birmingham, Alabama and Martha Berner of Mt. Vernon as well as many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law John and Freda Holmes, two brothers-in-law Ronald Andrews and Donald Berner, his niece Cathy Jo Bohlken and his nephew Timothy Cox.
