Diane Marie Tomas, 68 of Swisher, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 under the care of Unity Point Hospice. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Shueyville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Anderson Cemetery, Swisher. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Diane was born February 28, 1947 in Perry, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Berneice (Bauer) Hager. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1965. Following she attended Mercy Radiology school in Cedar Rapids and worked more than 27 years as a Radiation Technician at St. Luke's Hospital, retiring in 2006. Diane was united in marriage to Emil Tomas on October 26, 1967 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Perry. Together they had three children and a life together on the farm where she enjoyed the outdoors and her love for animals. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, watching birds, crossword puzzles, reading romance novels, rides in the old car, baking, cooking and most of all spending time with her family. She was famous for her homemade cinnamon rolls and pies. Diane is survived by her husband, Emil; children, Gary (Susan Bowersox) Tomas of Fairfax, Debra Cross (Matt Neuhaus) of Shueyville, Andy (Heidi) Tomas of Swisher; six grandchildren, Carter and Adelyn Tomas, Clay and Clint Cross, McKenna and Mason Tomas; two sisters, Nancy (Paul) Weigel of Boone and Cindy (Randy) Grgurich of Johnston; her brother, Dan (Michelle) Hager of Perry; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Berneice Hager, her baby brother Kevin and many aunts and uncles. Memorials may be directed to the family.
