Davida Jean Smith, 40, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at St. Lukes Hospital from a sudden illness. Homegoing services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014 at New Jerusaleum Church of God and Christ, located at 631 9th Avenue SE, with Reverend Hurley Bassett Jr. presiding. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements. Davida was born November 23, 1973 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Dave and Floristine (Franklin) Smith. She graduated from Washington High in 1991. Davida worked at APAC Customer Service, MCI and most recently at Adidas in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed watching movies, reading, and spending time with her family. DJ is survived by her son Charles Prince Wise Jr. of Cedar Rapids; her father Dave Smith Sr. of Los Angeles, California; her mother Floristine Turner of Las Vegas, Nevada; three sisters Samantha Smith of Los Angeles, California, Ariel Barber of Dubuque and Khrystina Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother Dave Smith Jr. of Cedar Rapids; three nieces Gacari, Taylar and Madison and one nephew DiMajio. DJ was preceded in death by her grandparents Samuel Franklin and Zearlene Bailey. Memorials may be directed to the family.
