David
Taylor
March 22, 1955 – December 8, 2024
David "Dave" W. Taylor, 69, of Swisher, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Burial will be at Shueyville Cemetery, following the luncheon.
Dave was born March 22, 1955, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the son of Don and Donna (Baker) Taylor. While attending Maquoketa High School, Dave played in a garage band and was nicknamed Pheasant for his athleticism. He graduated class of 1973, and later earned an Associate of Applied Science from Clinton Community College. Dave married the love of his life, Annette Messerich, on July 17, 1998, in Preston, Iowa. Together, they bought a property in Swisher and worked to remodel their house into a wonderful home. Dave was a service repair technician, spending long drives on calls with his children. His family was at the heart of his life, and his many titles say it all; from little league coach, referee, marching band photographer, wild ski boat driver, to Cubmaster in scouting, and the co-chief of "Spank-a-lot Daycare". Dave's goofy personality combined with his mean mustache made him a truly unforgettable person.
Dave is survived by his wife Annette; his children Eric (Maryann) Taylor of Austin, Texas, Lynn Taylor, of Centennial, Colorado, Casey (Sarah) Taylor of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Ryan Taylor, Alison Taylor, Kelsey Taylor, all of Swisher, Iowa; his grandchildren Ariel, Jennifer, Sterling, Carter, T.J., Jayla and Skylar; four great-grandchildren Raelyn, James, Nathan and Josiah; his siblings Darlene (Bruce) Strohbehn and Darren Taylor; his dogs Ruby and Creed; sisters and brothers-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Denette Schmidt, his brother Donnie (Thomasine) Taylor, and his father and mother-in-law John "Jack" and Joann Messerich.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
