"Super" David Wayne Minshall, 75 of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 22, 2011. A Celebration of Life will be 7 p.m. Friday, May 27 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brosh Chapel. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. The family requests that everyone come in casual attire and celebrate Dave's life. David was born July 4, 1935 in Racine, Wisconsin, the son of Frank and Hazel (Moon) Minshall. Dave served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Dave married Maralee Stusak on August 2, 1971. Dave worked as a heavy equipment field service mechanic for Spreitzer Inc for many years until his retirement. Dave was a life long farmer. Dave enjoyed fishing in Canada, having a "cold one", and spending time and visiting with his family and many friends. He especially enjoyed his grandkids and dogs. He was a very kind, gentle and fun loving person that will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. Dave is survived by his wife Maralee; children Kim Aptaker of Thousand Oaks, California, Mark (Robin) Minshall of Louisville, Kentucky, Traci Hop (Amir Bozorgzadeh) of Cedar Rapids, Trisha Hop (Kelli Alberts) of North Liberty, Trent Minshall (Terri Ballard) of Fairfax and Travis (Nikki) Minshall of Swisher; seven grandchildren Emily, Grant, Devan Aptaker, Alyan Minshall, Skylar Hop, Alexandra and Kennedy Minshall and baby Minshall in June; a brother Gordon (Carolyn) Minshall of Fairbault, Minnesota as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Richard and William Minshall and a sister Betty Andre. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Humane Society or to the Mayo Clinic in Dave's name. The family would like to send a special thank you to Mercy Cardiac / ICU staff, Mercy Home Care staff, Dr. Nick Hodgman, Dr. James Boddicker, and St. Mary's Hospital Mayo Clinic staff, for their professional and loving care of Dave.
