David John Kvapil Jr, 68, of Overland Park, Kansas, lost his brave battle with complications from cancer on Tuesday (7/11/17) in Kansas City, KS.

David was born September 1, 1948 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of David and Maxine O'Bryan Kvapil.  He graduated from Prairie High School and attended Iowa State University, where he obtained his BS in electrical engineering.  Following graduation, he worked for Square D Corporation and married his longtime girlfriend, Linda Zahradnik.  They moved to Lincoln, NE in the late 1970's after David accepted a job in risk management at Bryan Memorial Hospital.  It was there that their only child, Jared, was born in 1980.  While in Nebraska, he enjoyed hunting, coaching baseball and going on family adventures in their old British cars.  David and Linda moved to Littleton, CO, in 2002 as he accepted a job at Denver Health.  They continued to enjoy outdoor activities, learning to fly-fish, attending art festivals and following the local sports teams. David retired from hospital administration in 2015 and ultimately moved to the Kansas City metro area in September 2016 to be near his family.  He enjoyed family dinners, Royals baseball, small woodworking projects, and watching his grandsons various activities.  David will be remembered by his family and friends as a wonderful, caring individual who was ultimately taken far too soon.  He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

David was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Linda; sister Carol, brother John, and parents David Sr and Maxine.  He is survived by his son Jared (Stacey) and his grandchildren Chase and Blake, his mother-in-law Viola Zahradnik, brothers-in law, sisters-in law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
