David Ernest Ashbacher, 77 of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, February 18, 2016 from natural causes. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 22, 2016 at Dunkard Cemetery in Midway. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.

David was born March 23, 1938 in rural Johnson County, the son of Carl and Clara Louise (Simmen) Ashbacher.   He proudly served his country in the United States Army.  David worked for many years in landscaping.

David is survived by his siblings Rudy (Paula) Ashbacher, Rose McMurrin, Alice (Merlyn) Morris, Barb Lathrop and Virginia (Denny) Durbin; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Anna Frondle.
