Daniel James (aka DJ) Knoll, born December 25, 1941, passed away on October 28, 2017.  Born and raised on a farm in Dougherty, Iowa, DJ is survived by his sister, Barbara Wihlm; brother, Gerald Knoll; and two nieces Kristin Knoll and Alisa Cull.  After graduation from Rockwell Swaledale High School in 1960, DJ had a long prosperous career in the construction industry and was a member of the local teamsters union in Cedar Rapids.  In his spare time and after he retired, he enjoyed building his own residence in Ely.  He was a master craftsman and in addition to his talent in building houses, he also built a small single man aircraft.  His favorite pastimes included eating at the Breakfast House Café in Cedar Rapids and spending time with his Tom Cat.
