Dale Eugene Green, 87, died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Cottage Grove Place. Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Johns Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, where there will be a 3:45 p.m. rosary and a 5:30 p.m. parish vigil. Dale was born February 17, 1926 in Cedar Rapids, the son of John W. and Anna (Stusak) Green. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Dale was united in marriage to Rita Zmolek on June 15, 1948 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Dale worked for over 25 years for the Cedar Rapids Postal Service, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Dale enjoyed fishing, traveling with Rita, card playing, going to the casino and spending time with his family. Dale is survived by his children Roger (Nancy) Green of Woodbury, Minnesota, Bonita "Bonnie" (Roger) Nyhus of Forest City, Madonna "Donna" (Frank) Sifuentes of Lacey, Washington and Dan (Jackie) Green of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rita, a daughter Nancy Marie, and a great-grandson Jaxson. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy.
