Clayton "Corky" Gene Tilton, 83 of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center. Celebration of Life Service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21st at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21st at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Private family inurnment will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery. Clayton was born March 3, 1928 in Marion, the son of Irvin and Viola (Kahler) Tilton. He married Jean Irving on December 19, 1970 in Cedar Rapids until she passed away in 1991. Corky was an over the road truck driver for American Freight for many years until his retirement in 1988. Corky married Carol Duncan in 1996. Since retirement he has enjoyed bowling, gardening and collecting Lionel Trains. Later on he enjoyed time spent with his wife watching NASCAR, wildlife and traveling. Corky is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Tracy (Mike) Smith of Arlington, Texas; daughter-in-law Terry Tilton and four grandchildren Gretchen (Ryan) Fottral and their children Lilly and Sofia of Marion, Kathleen (Kristopher) Sullens of Cedar Rapids, John (Rachel) Tilton of Lemoore, California and Howard Tilton of Lemoore, California. Corky is preceded in death by parents, wife Jean, a son Clayton Thomas Tilton, a grandson Clayton Jr., a brother Bob, and sisters Anna, Delores and Tootie.
