Cheryl Sue Spina, 60 of Covington died Friday, August 24 at St. Lukes Hospital from a sudden illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2007 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery rural Covington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Cheryl was born September 4, 1946 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Paul L. and Veneta Milburn Jones. She started her schooling in a one room school at Buffalo, and then attended Stoney Point, Roosevelt and later Jefferson High School. She earned a degree from Kirkwood College in floral design. Cheryl was united in marriage to Milo Spina on January 27, 1962 in Rockford, Illinois.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Milo; a daughter Deb (Dan) Boddicker of Vinton; a son Brian Spina of Palo, and her precious granddaughters Jessie Sue and Katie Ann Boddicker. Preceding her in death were her parents, her sons Bruce in infancy in 1964 and Scott Spina who died in 1988, and a brother James R. Jones.
Cheryl was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a real zest for life. She loved spending time with her family especially the granddaughters. She has always enjoyed the company of her dogs from the Boston Terriers to Bulldogs. She and Milo loved attending as many of the Bluegrass music performances as they could. She had worked at Peck's, and as a floral designer with Flowerama and Cedar Memorial.
