Cherish Marie Jackson January 15, 1987 – September 20, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Cherish Marie Jackson, 37, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who passed away unexpectedly following an asthma attack.

Cherish was born on January 15, 1987, to Annette Jackson and Billy Cook. She was raised by her grandmother, Minnie Jackson, with whom she shared a special bond and deep love.

Cherish pursued her passion as a makeup artist (MUA) and earned her esthetics certificate from La' James International College. She loved transforming her clients with her creative makeup skills, and everyone admired her talent and artistry.

An athlete with a passion for basketball, Cherish played for the East Side Warriors AAU team. Her competitive spirit extended beyond the court and into her life, where she fought fiercely for her loved ones.

Cherish had an infectious sense of humor that could change the atmosphere in any room. Her energy was magnetic, and everyone loved being around her. She was not only an amazing mother and partner but also a true friend, always lifting up those around her.

Cherish is survived by her six beautiful children: Zion, Daemirra, Daemarie, Daevid, Dae'Vier, and Daecion, whom she cherished deeply; her parents Annette and Billy; siblings Choyce Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Tracey Jackson, Jaylani Whiteside, Billie M. Cook, Billy Cook Jr., lyayla Cook, Carmelo Cook, Anthony Cook, and Zuri Cook; as well as her close cousins Shanika Hodges, Marcus Martin, and Darius Jackson.

Cherish was a proud partner to David Henry, for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Minnie Jackson and Henry Jackson; her paternal grandparents, Lula Cook and Charles Cook; her sister Brihanna Washington; and her aunt Tina Jackson. Her legacy of love, strength, humor, and devotion will live on through her family and friends.

Services will be held at Cedar Rapids Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4401 42nd St NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402, on Sunday, September 29, 2024. The viewing will begin at 1:30 PM, followed by the service at 3:30 PM. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery. The repass will take place at Indian Creek Nature Center from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

All who knew and loved Cherish are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of a woman who gave so much to those around her. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids are in charge of arrangements.
