Charles L. Pospisil, 77 of Lisbon, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center complications from heart failure. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW with burial to follow in Czech National Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by the Lisbon American Legion Post 109. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW.
Charles was born February 3, 1931 in rural Johnson County, the son of Wesley and Anna Lipsansky Pospisil. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Confict. Charles was united in marriage to Arlene Doskocil on April 8, 1954 in Springfield, Missouri. Charles was a lifelong farmer in the Lisbon area, as well being involved in real estate. He enjoyed spending time playing cards, going to Tama, going to the State Fair and the Kalona Sale Barn. Charlie was very hard worker both farming and around the house. He was a very dedicated person to doing things done the right way, including painting and home repairs. He was very involved with the Lisbon Legion for many years. Charlie loved the time spent with his friends and family, especially grandkids. He will be greatly missed.
Charles is survived by his wife Arlene of Lisbon; sons Duane (Sheryl) of Lisbon, David (Mary Mitchell) of Cedar Rapids, and Darrel (Valencia) of Fairfax; grandchildren Stephanie (Nick) Nevins, Lindsey (Andrew Elam) Pospisil, Brittany (Devin) Fox, Aaron (Lori St. John) Pospisil, Kayla Pospisil, Chris Pospisil, and Roxie; greatgrandchildren Kasey Nevins and Drake Pospisil; a brother Ben (Vi) Pospisil of Mt. Vernon, as well as nieces and nephews.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, twin sons in infancy, two sisters Libbie Heslop and Ruth Aucutt
