Charles Walter Lawrence, 72 of 210 Red Wing Road SW, died Friday, October 20 at his home from a sudden illness.  Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.  A private family inurnment will be held at later date in Gillette, Wyoming.
Charles was born January 4, 1934 in Gillette, Wyoming, the son of Richard "Pop" and Margaret A. Brennan Lawrence.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran.  He married Martha A. Parks on July 12, 1970 in Blairstown.  Charles was a union painter in Cedar Rapids for many years.  He loved to be outdoors, spending time fishing and enjoying nature.  He liked the company of his family and especially his bird, Andy Gump.
Charles is survived by his wife Martha; a son Rick (Tess Adair) Stoneburner of Cedar Rapids; a daughter Deb (Carl) Sivak of Denver, Colorado; two grandchildren Stephanie and Aaron; sisters Phyllis (Romie) Johnson of Austin, Colorado and Jackie Rule of Grand Junction, Colorado; a sister in law Mary Lawrence of Hot Springs, South Dakota; a brother Bill Lawrence of Albuquerque, New Mexico as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Tom and a brother in law Leo Rule.
