Charles "Chuck" Jacob Schreiber, 78 of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. As per Chuck's wishes, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Hope Lutheran Church. Visitation will be an hour prior to services at the church; a luncheon will follow the service.
Chuck was born March 21, 1929 in Iowa City, the son of George and Florence (Waldschmidt) Schreiber. He married Arlene Dvorak on September 12, 1950 in Cedar Rapids. Chuck served in the Korean War. He returned to Cedar Rapids, working and retiring from Ar-Jay. He helped originate CRASA, and managed softball leagues at Tait Cummins Complex for many years. He was a long-time, active member of Hope Lutheran Church, serving on the Church Council, and chairing the Building Committee. Chuck was a recent resident at Crestview Acres in Marion.
Chuck is survived by his wife Arlene; daughters Sandi (Dave) Swanson of Walford, and Jenni (Jamey) Henne of Kansas City; four grandchildren: Tiffany (Brian), Caden, Madisyn, and Alex; one greatgrandchild Gwenyth; brothers George Schreiber of Solon, and Dean Schreiber of North Liberty; sisters Aileen Murphy of Iowa City, Mary Ann Moore of Oskaloosa, Doris Ratliff of Florida, and Carol Laschke of Missouri.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, and his father-in-law.
