Caroline Fuhrmeister Touchberry, 81 of 35 Ely Road died Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at home from complications of Alzheimers.  Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church in Ely with Rev. Jeff Borgwardt and Rev. Bob David officiating.  Burial will follow in Rogers Grove Cemetery rural Ely.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids and for an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Caroline was born October 10, 1924 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Forrest and Anna Hromatko Fuhrmeister.  She married Robert Touchberry September 1, 1948 at St. John Lutheran in Ely.  She graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Zoology.  She was employed for the National Institute of Health from 1946 – 1948.  She volunteered her time with several organizations including at Walter Reed Army Hospital from 1967 - 1968 as a Gray Lady and later for NAMI of Linn County.

Caroline is survived by her husband Robert; her children: Bob Jr. (Jenny) of Longmont, Colorado, Pam Touchberry of Marion, Lee (Cindy) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Alan (Marlene) of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; six grandchildren Jenny, David, Natalie, Anna, Sam, and James.  She is preceded in death by her parents.
