Carole K. Logsdon, 72 of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 30, 2015. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 2 until 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Elks Lodge in Cedar Rapids, located at 801 33rd Avenue SW. Private family inurnment was held in St. John's Cemetery. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is handling arrangements. Carole was born May 9, 1942 to Kenneth and Johanna "Angie" (Holets) Sanborn in Cedar Rapids. Carole is survived by her three children, Deborah Wimberley, Kimberly (Scott) Christensen and Daniel W. Ockenfels; Daniel P. Ockenfels the father of her children; her seven grandchildren Leia (John), David, Gabrielle (Kyle), Paul, Sarah (Jon), Nathan, and Melody (Randy); her great-granddaughter Olivia; her brothers Wayne (Joan) Sanborn, Daryl (Sandy) Sanborn, Ronnie Sanborn, and Kevin (Pattie) Sanborn; many nieces and nephews, as well as her companion, Glen Owen. Carole was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Angie, her brother Barry Lee Sanborn, and a sister-in-law Linda Sanborn. Carole attended Prairie High School. She took lessons and played the accordion as a teen. Then Carole traveled to many European counties, Northern Africa, Iran, Switzerland, and much of the United States. She later settled in Arizona where she was a member of the Palmbrooke Golf Club. Carole was a member of the Moose Lodge and had a real estate license as well as being a pharmacy technician. She spent many years driving across the United States, occasionally working at RV and Camp sites. Known for her quick wit, ready smile and kind heart Carole made friends wherever she went. Carole enjoyed travel, ice cream, golfing, and puzzles. She loved animals; however, family was the most important thing in Carole's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the memorial of Carole Logsdon by contacting Brosh Chapel or, contributions to Hospice House of Mercy.
