In addition to her love of family and friends, Carol will be forever remembered for her gift of gab, and for the pride she took in her home. It was not unusual to see Carol out working on her flowers and lawn well past dark. Being able to stay there through her many years of illness brought her great peace. Carol will be greatly missed by family and friends. Carol is survived by her children, Deena (Steve) Bernhardt of Iowa City, Scott Meskimen and Tami Kluth, of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Abby Boer of Iowa City and Austin Kluth of Cedar Rapids, and her sister-in-law Patricia Vaverka of Oak Grove, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Darwin and Eldon, and a son, Steven. Carol's children would like to thank the kind and caring staff of Manor Care Nursing and Rehab Center, St Luke's Hospice, mom's home health aid Jasmine, and her three friends who did so much to help: Pat Albin, Marlene Dostal and Kelly Rodenkirk. Memorials may be directed to the family, or to Aging Services Inc. of Linn County.
