Brian J. Waterbury, 56, of Cedar Rapids, died May 20, 2023 at Care Initiatives at Heritage. As per the family's wishes, private services will be held. Brosh Chapel and the Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Brian John was born June 13, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Danny Ray and Mary Louise (Novotny) Waterbury. He graduated from Kennedy High School where he was Salutatorian. Brian worked for many years as a food broker in Chicago and Portland.

Brian is survived by his brothers, Brett Waterbury (Stephanie), Mike Rose and Josh Wagner and his sisters Danielle Seger (Rick) and Lindsey Reedich (Chris). He is also survived by long-time friend, Kathy Sewejkis, aunts, Carol Novotny and Kathy Baker (Randy), stepsister, Heidi Wagner, nephews, Preston Waterbury, Blake Waterbury, Ben Seger and niece and caregiver, Bailee Seger,

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Bill Wagner, brother John Wagner and nephew Brett Waterbury.

Before his illness Brian was an active outdoorsman and loved sports and karaoke. He was fan of PBR, rock and roll and playing the harmonica. He attended every rock concert he could.

Brian had a great sense of humor, quick wit and had many friends. He was a sweet and caring person and will be missed.
