Bonni Lou Wyatt-Meis, 78 of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. A private family inurnment will be at a later date in Cedar Memorial Cemetery.
Bonni was born February 1, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Fredrick N. and Viola I. Blessing Krumm. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1949. She married R. Robert Wyatt in August of 1949. She married Herman "Ben" Meis on January 1, 1990 in Cedar Rapids. Ben and Bonni moved to Baytown, Texas for over five years. Bonni was a long time employee and supervisor with JC Penney until her retirement. She was an active volunteer with the Cedar Rapids Cadets, Grenadiers and Emerald Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. Bonni was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Bonni is survived by her children Scott, Robin, Kim (Randy), Peter (Angela), Tom (Denise), Barbara (Terry), and Matt (Cathy); eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Betsy Kessler and Beverly (Bud) Carnahan; and her brothers Fred (Beverly) Krumm and Don Krumm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Jeffery, her husband Ben on March 31, 2006; and her constant canine companion Fred.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Lukes Hospice, The Animal Welfare Foundation of Iowa, or the charity of the donors choice.
