Betty J. Naplin, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2023, after battling breast cancer for 25 years. Betty was born in Weldon, Illinois, on November 15, 1947, to George L. Davis Burton and Lora L. (Dalton) Burton. She was one of nine children born to Davis and Lora Burton and grew up on a farm in Weldon, Illinois.
Betty is survived by her husband, John H. Naplin, and daughter Michelle L. Mosgrove of Lebanon, Indiana. Betty met John when they both worked at Prefab Transit in Farmer City, Illinois. They were married September 1, 1990. They celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary this year.
Betty is also survived by four grandchildren ~ Amanda (AJ) Koch of Lebanon, Indiana, Stephanie Adair of Thorntown, Indiana, Garrett Mosgrove of Chicago, Illinois and Jacob Mosgrove of Fisher, Illinois, and six great-grandchildren ~ Amaya Cooke, Kameron Mikesell, Braiden Luzar, Rosalie Koch, Rhett Koch, and Liam Koch.
Betty married Charles M. (Charlie) Mosgrove of Mansfield, Illinois, on August 15, 1965. They had two children, Michelle L. Mosgrove and Gregory C. (Tawnya) Mosgrove, deceased of Bellflower, Illinois.
Betty was a beautician for 19 years and had a salon in her home in Mansfield, Illinois. She had many "regular" ladies who came on a weekly basis that soon became like family. After 19 years of doing hair, Betty went to work at Prefab Transit in Farmer City, Illinois. She worked at Prefab for 10 years before moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to work for CRST Trucking. Betty retired from CRST after 17 years in 2014.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Davis and Lora Burton, her son, Gregory C. Mosgrove, a brother, Ronald Burton, and a sister, Rachel Zeigler.
Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at the Farmer City American Legion from 1- 3 pm. All are invited. A memorial service will be held in Cedar Rapids, IA at a later date.
