Betty Jane Moses, 86 of Ely, died Friday, September 21 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with burial to follow in Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 23rd at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Betty was born December 29, 1925 in Iowa City, the daughter of Frank and Ada (Volesky) Langer. She married Joseph Stanley Moses on February 27, 1946 in Ely. Betty and Joe farmed in the Ely area for many years. She was a member of Friendship Club of Ely, Rebekah Lodge, Johanna Society. Betty enjoyed collecting dolls, going to auctions, baking angel food cakes, sewing, gardening and most of all spending time with her family. Betty is survived by her children JoAnne Heims of Anamosa, David Moses, Karl Moses, Howard (Sheila) Moses, Daniel Moses, and Kevin (Kim) Moses all of Cedar Rapids, Joe (Linda) Moses, Pat (Linda) Moses, Pam (Rich) Tichy, Marlys Moses (Mark Popelka) all of Ely, Susie Moses (Tim Ewing) of Blairstown and Jake (Lori) Moses of Louisville, Kentucky; twenty seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister Phyllis Schutzman of Toddville; a sister-in-law Marie (Louis) Stepanek of Cedar Rapids. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, a son-in-law Jim Heims, and a brother-in-law Ivan Schutzman. Memorials may be directed to the family.
