Bert S. Jackson, 91 of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Bert was born May 29, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Bert and Bessie (Bartosh) Jackson. He served in the US Army in the South Pacific during WWII. He married Irma Havlicek on November 1, 1947 in Cedar Rapids. Bert was a carpenter his whole life and retired as Carpenter Foreman with the Cedar Rapids School District. His family knew him as the jack of all trades. Bert is survived by his children; Linda Petersen (Pete) and Roger, grandchildren; Brad Jackson, Stacie Jackson-McGarr (Davide), Jenny Powelka (Matt), Curt Jackson (Tasha), two great-grandchildren; Jackson Powelka and Ivy Adix, and his beloved cat Sox. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irma and a sister Marguerite Jackson. Memorials may be directed to the family.
