Bernard G. Friedl, 83 of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital, following complications from a stroke. Funeral Mass to celebrate Bernie's life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, at All Saints Catholic Church with Fr. David O'Connor presiding. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Bernie was born March 14, 1925 in Cedar Rapids, the son of John J. and Margaret (Viktor) Friedl. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army Airforce and flew the Hump over India, in B-17s as a radio operator. He owned City Realty in Cedar Rapids and was a realtor throughout his life until retirement. Bernie was a member of the 4

Degree Knights of Columbus and the Board of Realtors. He loved polka music and enjoyed singing. He was a member of the All Saints Choir for many years.
Bernie is survived by his nephews Bernie (Susan) Friedl of Cedar Rapids, and Dick (Connie) Friedl of Solon; nieces Jeanne Sylvester of Cedar Rapids, Marie (Don) Kasparek of Swisher, and Dorothy (Joel) Bartleson of Forest City; and many grand nieces, grand nephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Francis.
Uncle Bernie was a fun and loving uncle, a person who always had a joke to share with anyone. God bless you Uncle Bernie you will be missed.
