Dr. Benet J. Pardini, 54, of Solon, died Monday, October 6, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hopsitals and Clinics.  Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon under the auspices of Solon United Methodist Church, with Rev. Scott Meador presiding.   Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Solon.

Ben was born August 26, 1954 in Northbrook, Illinois, the son of Benet and Mary Rigo Pardini.  He married Margaret Ashton on October 4, 1986 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City.  Ben graduated Northwestern University with a degree of Bachelor Science.  He received a Phd in Human Physiology from Loyola University of Chicago.  He worked on his post doctorate fellowship, at the VA Medical Center and the Carver College of Medicine.  He returned to school and became a Physician Assistant.  He worked in Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  Currently he was an Assistant Professor of Molecular Physiology in Biophysics,  a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Cardiology, a Faculty Director, Flocks Medical Learning Community, Carver College of Medicine with the University of Iowa.  He was serving a second term on the Solon Community School Board and Past-President of the Iowa Physician Assistant Society

Ben is survived by his wife Margaret; his daughters, Emma and Ruth Pardini; his mother Mary Pardini of Northbrook, Illinois; sisters, Priscilla (Tom Tolan) Pardini of Shorewood, Wisconsin, Deborah Pardini of Wilmette, Illinois; brother-in-laws, Ned (Melissa) Ashton of Solon, John (Karen) Ashton of Dexter, Minnesota; nieces and nephews, Casey Tolan, Matthew and Lexi Ashton, and Paige, Ned, Lauren, and John Ashton.

He was preceded in death by his father Benet Pardini in March of 2008

A memorial fund has been established in Ben's name at 3915 Mehaffey Lane NE, Solon, Iowa 52333.
