BARBARA MARIE WHITE STREED, age 76 formerly of Cedar Rapids, died September 12, 2016 in her home at Mountain Home, Arkansas, following a long illness.
Services will be held at a later date in Mountain Home.
Born, January 19, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, Barbara was the daughter of Lewis William and Vivian Merle Harwi White. During her high school summers, she was a competitive swimmer and the first female life guard at the Ellis Park swimming pool in Cedar Rapids. She was a part of the last graduating class at McKinley High School in 1957. She worked for many years in the Chicago area and later in California. In her retirement Barb enjoyed building doll houses, camping, boating and fishing. Survivors include her good friend, Lorenzo Maldonado, Mountain Home; a sister, Susan Brosh Scott and her husband, Rich, Loudon, Tennessee; a brother, Richard W. White and his wife, Linda, Wadsworth, Illinois; to nieces, Jenifer Visek and Stephanie White and two great nieces, Bailey and Peyton, Visek, all of the Chicago area. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a great niece. Also surviving are her two black labs, BJ and Bo. |
