Annie Mae Ray, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 29, 2022.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.  Private Homegoing services and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. A repass will begin at 3p.m. at the ROC center, located 1220 10 th Street SE, Cedar Rapids.

Annie was born July 17, 1929, in Milan, Tennessee, the daughter of Charlie and Lizzie (Davis) Brewster.  She attended Somerville Schools in Somerville, Tennessee.  Annie was united in marriage to Charles Adrian Ray Sr. in Tennessee.  Annie worked at Wilson Packing House/ Farmstead Foods for over 30 years, until her retirement.  She was a dedicated member and founder of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a Deaconess, a missionary, and a member of Bible study.  She was a union steward and a hostess for tour bus company.  Annie worked as a volunteer with the NAACP, where she was active in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. programs.  She enjoyed going fishing, bingo, occasionally visiting a casino, playing scratch tickets, reading her Bible, and most of all spending time with her family.

Annie is survived by her children Annette M. (Del) Mallory and Charles A. (Veronica) Ray Jr.; her grandchildren Orlando A. Ray and Jasmine Mallory; niece Willie Ruth Bardwell, nephews Bobbie (Ruth) Brewster, Ernest Brewster and Tex Bardwell; as well as a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her eight brothers and four sisters.
