Andy Kacmarynski, age 57, of Solon, Iowa died November 11, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Andrew Francis Kacmarynski was born October 27, 1956 in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was the son of Norbert and Elsie (Boyd) Kacmarynski. Andy grew up in Linn Grove, Iowa on a rural farmstead with 11 other brothers and sisters. After graduation, he moved to Iowa City, Iowa where he was employed by Payless Cashways for 25 years. After working for Payless Cashways, Andy worked in a variety of construction related jobs in the Iowa City area. The weekly "Safety Meeting" with co-workers was a highlight of his week. Always a kid at heart, Andy enjoyed collecting antique tops, pull-toys and motion activated stuffed animals. It gave him no greater joy than to see his grandkids playing with "his" toys and shouting "Merry Christmas!" no matter what time of year it was as they walked in the door. Andy's hobbies included gardening, playing Wii, metal detecting, playing cards and watching westerns on TV . He was always prepared to show the latest addition to his beer stein collection. Andy constantly made himself available to help others by mowing yards or doing handy work. Andy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Pam, son, Christopher & Molly and their children Hannah and Connor of Peterson, Iowa, daughter, Sara Towne and her daughter Lillian of Solon, Iowa, son, Brian and his wife, Emily and their children Parker and Macy Jane of North Liberty, Iowa, father-in-law, Ernest DuBuis of Sigourney, Iowa and many brothers, sisters, in-laws, friends and neighbors.
