Alva Edward Hunter Jr., 65, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, May 31, 2018.  Celebration of Life gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.

Alva was born July 15, 1952 in Iowa City, the son of Alvin and Doris (Augustine) Hunter.  Alva was united in marriage to Starlene Kallwaite.  They were later divorced.  He worked for many years at Bertelli Construction.  Alva was a dedicated mechanic and loved working on all kinds of vehicles.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Alva is survived by his children Starletta Hunter (Corey Aalbers) of Miller, South Dakota, Wanda Guerrero (Dennis Kirk) of Rapid City, South Dakota and Dusty (Aubrey) Hunter of Box Elder, South Dakota, Tony Hunter of Wisconsin and Kimberly Hunter of Box Elder, South Dakota; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings Darlene (John) Youngman, Marvin Hunter, Linda (Richard) Vermace, as well as his nieces and nephews, and special friends Don, Mary, Bob, Pat and many more.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, his siblings Harold Hunter, Kenneth Hunter, Sandy Smith, Joy Halstead, Ronald Hunter Sr. and Robert Hunter.
